Denkyira Traditional Council to honour its heroes

Jukwa (C/R) May 25, GNA- The Denkyira Traditional Council in collaboration with the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District Assembly will next month honour past and present heroes of the area, as part of activities making Ghana's 50th anniversary celebration. The heroes included Nana Kodwo Tsibu, the then king of Denkyira, a signatory to the bond of 1844 that officially marked ther beginning of British rule in the Gold Coast and Odeifo Boa Amponsem II the present Denkyirehene.

Nana Kwabena Teiko, Baamuhene of Denkyira, made this known when Nana Ato Arthur, the Central Regional Minister, addressed chiefs and people of Jukwa to end a two-day tour of the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira district.

Nana Arthur also inspected progress of work on the 2.6 kilometers road in the Jukwa township that was started last year and about 65 per cent complete.

Nana Teiko, thanked the Government for initiating numerous development projects in the area, which included the tarring of the Jukwa town roads, the construction of a two-storey boys dormitory for the Jukwa secondary technical school, and appealed for a science Laboratory and bus for the school.

He also appealed for a standby generator and the expansion of facilities at the Jukwa health centre.

Nana Arthur commended the people for ensuring unity, which he said had helped in the execution of the projects in the area. He also commended the contractor working on the Jukwa roads for the work so far done and urged him to complete the work on schedule. Nana Arthur urged the people to support the Government's development agenda and said the authorities would ensure that promises were fulfilled before the 2008 Elections.
