Dedication, expansion project of Holy Trinity Lutheran School

The radiant early morning sunshine on the 10th of September 2017 did indeed lit up the dreams of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Schools (ELCS) into the realities they have become.

It was a day to celebrate another great stride made possible through hard work, dedication, passion and above all the Grace of God. Holy Trinity Lutheran School (HTLS), at Kwadaso Estate in Kumasi hosted a colourful dedication of its expansion project on Sunday, 10th September, 2017. The new two-storey edifice and its ancillary facilities like the two artificial grass-turfs and basketball court gave the school a whole new look, feel and ambience.

Right from the day before the dedication, it was an all hands-on-deck affair, with proud teachers and dedicated non-teaching staff of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Schools, as well as their ever vibrant students, playing diverse roles to make the day and occasion as exceptional as it ought to be.

Dignitaries from government, the clergy, members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELCG) - Holy Trinity Congregation and parents were all present to give their full-backing and endorsement to the continuous investment being made by the Lutheran Schools in the area of education in Kumasi and Ghana as a whole.

Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, the Mayor of Kumasi in his speech made reference to his first-hand experience of what it meant to be privileged to have a ward in a school such as HTLS; giving proven accounts of the great men and women the school has produced over the decades of its existence in Kumasi. Hon Osei Assibey Antwi also emphasized on the need for a strong and robust educational foundation for the future leaders of Ghana, something the Lutheran Schools are already passionately involved in and also commended the ELCS for the prudent use of funds which he believes has translated into what everyone had gathered at the event to celebrate.



The Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ghana – ELCG; Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn in his sermon and subsequent address mentioned the need for better parenting especially at the early stages of the child’s growth and the need for Christians to leave their comfort zones to spread the good news of Christ. Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn also threw some light on the significant investment made in the area of education by the Lutheran Church worldwide as the largest protestant Church in the world. The Bishop also touched on the mega plans of the Church to start the construction of a new Teacher Training School in Kumasi, and the highly funded scholarship scheme available for Lutherans to study in the various universities owned by the Church in the US, Germany, and the Scandinavian countries among others.

Mr Kwadwo Gyamfi – Director of Schools and Projects at the Evangelical Lutheran Church Schools in his speech expressed gratitude on behalf of the ELCS to the National Education Board (NEB) of ELCG, the Bishop- Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn, members of ELCG and Ecobank Ghana Limited, who have all played significant roles in making the project successful.

Mr Kwadwo Gyamfi went on to touch briefly on the innovative and technologically advanced systems used in the Lutheran Schools to bring world class convenience and exceptional productivity in the Schools. These include a sophisticated School Management System that gives every parent deep insight into their child’s education, allows teachers to deliver their very best and also keeps pupils on their toes when it comes to their performance.

The ELCS also operates using a world-class project management system with integrated document, task and content management modules, among others. The newest addition is the dedicated mobile application for the various schools, available for both Android and iOS devices – www.lutheranschoolsghana.com/apps. All these including the strong governance culture in ELCS were also emphatically mentioned and expressed in the speeches by Dr. Delali Hodasi – Board Chairman (NEB) and Mr Isaac Owusu-Hemeng – NEB Board Member and Chairman of Finance Committee of the NEB.

In his submission, the Director also shared with the guests present an increasing demand coming in to replicate the quality education at the Holy Trinity Lutheran School in other areas of Kumasi and its environs.



The entourage from Ecobank Ghana Limited; financiers of the project, expressed their immense satisfaction at the project and praised the astute leadership of the Director – Mr Kwadwo Gyamfi in their goodwill message. Ecobank also expressed their joy in the shared value of using technology to serve customers better and in a modern way; a trait they see to be very evident in the way education is delivered at the Lutheran Schools.

In all, it was a very successful day full of gratitude to God, all who contributed to the success of the project, and the lovely pupils and loyal parents of the Holy Trinity Lutheran School.
