Dambaihene appeals for devt projects from VRA Fund

Dambai (V/R), Nov 4, GNA - The chief of Dambai, in the Krachi District, Nana Kwaku Beyennor 11, has called on the Volta River Authority (VRA) Resettlement Fund Board to ensure that the community obtains its fair share of the development projects as other resettlement communities affected by the creation of the Volta Lake.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency on Sunday he expressed regret that as one of the largest resettlement communities in the country it was surprising that members of the Fund's Board have not yet visited them as being done to other communities.

Nana Beyennor said with the government's decision to carve out the area as a separate district from the Krachi District, it is imperative that the Fund's Board expedites its interaction with the residents to help supplement their development efforts to provide the necessary infrastructure required of the town's new status.

He complained about recent frequent power outages facing the people and urged the Electricity Company of Ghana to take urgent steps to rectify the anomaly to save the people from further hardships. The chief called for the provision of a market and fishing port and appealed to investors to invest in water transport facilities to reduce the burden of traders who flock the market to purchase yams and fish.
