Dambai ready to host District Assembly

Dambai (V/R), Oct 22, GNA- The chief of Dambai in the Krachi District, Nana Kwaku Beyennor 11, has commended the government for its decision to create a separate district for the area and said the people are prepared to provide infrastructure for offices and accommodation for personnel.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency on Monday, he said land had been made available for the construction of offices and residential accommodation for the decentralised departments and agencies. Nana Beyennor appealed to the government to inaugurate the town's clinic built by the Saudi Fund and to upgrade it into a district hospital.

He commended the government for the rehabilitation of feeder roads linking farming communities and called for the upgrading of the 68-kilometre Worawora-Dambai trunk road to facilitate the transportation food and fish from the area.

Nana Beyennor appealed for a market and landing facility for fishing boats and said measures had been put in place to check boat disasters in the area.

To ensure the provision of potable water, he said, a water levy of 15,000 a man and 10,000 a woman had been instituted to raise the 10 per cent of the cost of a water project for the community with a population of over 14,000.

He said 100 hectares of land has been set aside for the cultivation of cassava under the President's Special Initiative while a one-mile square land had been released for the cultivation of the Jatropha plant for bio-diesel production.
