Civil servants protest slashes in their salaries for July.

Civil Servants and other public service workers are asking government to clearly offer explanations for slashes in their salaries for last month.

The workers say they realised a slash in their salaries for the month of July but no clear explanations have so far been offered them.

A number of them who spoke to JoyNews said there was not a single notice or any memorandum to inform them of the intended slash.

They also said that the situation demands an immediate responds from the office of the controller and accountant general.

myjoyonline investigations at the ministries has revealed that most of the workers are not enthusied at all about the way the autorities are handling the issue.

A number of people myjoyonline spoke with said they detected the slashes when they compared their basic salary figures for April to June with last month's.

A doctor at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital told JoyNews that when he confronted the hospital's finance controller for explanation he was simply told a circular from the controller and accountant general's office instructed them to take the action.

A number of people JoyNews spoke with said they will lay down their tools if clear explanations are not offered for the action.
