DCE tours District

Dromankese (B/A) Sept. 26, GNA - Nkoranza District Assembly is to purchase a heavy-duty grader and roller machines for the maintenance of feeder roads in the district to facilitate the transportation of people and farm produce to marketing centres.

Mr. James Kwabena Appiah-Awuah, District Chief Executive, who announced this was addressing Chiefs and people of Dromankese, Adumasa, Dromankuma, Boana and Taaho at separate meetings during a familiarization tour of communities in the district. He expressed concern about the deplorable condition of roads in the district and the purchase of the vehicles would help the Assembly to make regular maintenance of the roads.

The Chief Executive urged traditional authorities, Assembly Members and unit committees to organise the people to initiate fund raising rallies to mobilize resources to undertake development programmes. Mr. Appiah-Awuah gave the assurance that the Assembly would never relent in its efforts in assisting communities that initiated their own development programmes.

He asked the youth to rally behind the community leaders to initiate and complete development programmes to advance the development of the area.

At Dromankese, the Town Council Secretary, Mr. Francis Nkrumah commended the government for providing 15 classrooms for the three basic schools in the community.

He also commended the government for putting up permanent market structures in the area to enhance economic activities and to make Dromankese market more viable. Mr. Nkrumah announced that the people had started construction work a Police Station project, estimated at more than 100 million cedis and called on the Police Administration to inspect the project and Post Office.

Nana Adoma Baabea, Queen mother of the area called on the District Chief Executive to liaise with the government to connect the area to the national electricity grid to enable the people, who had already purchased 200 low tension poles for the project, to improve their living standards.

Mr. Peter Kyeremeh Soro, Assemblyman, called for the extension of electricity to the area and appealed to the District Assembly to provide a three classroom block for the local primary school. Nana Osei Bonsu of Adumasa called for the construction of three classrooms for the local primary school as the old structure had become a death trap.

Mr. Abdulae Moro, Unit Committee Chairman at Taaho appealed to the District Assembly to provide the town with an additional borehole, as the only one in the area could not serve the large population.
