DCE deplores attempts to discredit re-denomination exercise

Kumasi, May 24, GNA- Mr. Thomas Ofori-Donkor, Atwima-Nwabiagya District Chief Executive, has deplored attempts by some detractors of the Government to pollute the minds of people that there is no need for the re-denomination exercise.

He said the was also the need for security personnel to be alert because miscreants could take advantage of the exercise to intensify their counterfeiting business.

Mr. Ofori-Donkor was speaking at the handing-over ceremony of new executives of the University of Education, Winneba (Kumasi Campus) branch of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the New Patriotic Party at Tanoso near Kumasi.

He said the re-denomination exercise was the greatest and boldest decision that any government had ever taken in the country. Mr. George Ayisi-Boateng, a leading member of the NPP, said the Government was doing everything possible to normalize the current energy crisis in the country, and announced that five more generators had been imported into the country to augment the existing ones. Mr. Martin Mills Yeboah, outgoing President of TESCON, said the association had been able to erect two new notice boards and renovated the old one at the cost of 1.6 million cedis and donated a poly tank worth 6.5 million cedis to the University to solve its perennial water problem.
