DCE appeals to assembly members to be united

Jasikan, Dec 19, GNA - Mr Solomon Kwame Donkor, Jasikan District Chief Executive (DCE), has called on assembly members to do away with divisive tendencies and gear their efforts towards the development of the area. The DCE, who was speaking at an emergency meeting of the District Assembly on Thursday, urged them to bury their differences and work as a team.

He told them to educate the people on the programmes and policies of the assembly including the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) that would be launched in the district next year.

"Those in the informal sector are expected to contribute 72,000 cedis annually to the scheme through a monthly payment of 6,000 cedis through officials of the District Health Insurance Scheme," Mr Donkor said. He said the government had given the assembly 250 million cedis for the commencement of the scheme.

The DCE assured ex-assembly members that efforts were being made to pay their ex-gratia award.

The assembly honoured Dr Winfred Ofosu, District Health Director and Miss Peace Adafia, a cleaner at the assembly, for their dedicated services.

Dr Ofosu received a radio-cassette player while Miss Adafia had a standing fan.
