The Minister of Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak has imposed a curfew on Bole township and its surrounding areas in Ghana’s Savannah Region.

The curfew, effective Wednesday, August 27, 2025, follows chieftaincy issues that have escalated into security threats.

According to the statement, the curfew is in effect from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am daily until further notice.

In an effort to de-escalate the situation, the government has urged chiefs, opinion leaders and residents to exercise restraint and pursue peaceful resolutions.

Additionally, strict regulations have been put in place: there is a total ban on carrying firearms, ammunition, or any other offensive weapons, and violators will face arrest and prosecution.

Furthermore, the presence of two or more persons on a single motorbike is prohibited, as is the wearing of any war regalia.

Meanwhile, the government has admonished all residents, including chiefs, opinion leaders and the youth, to remain calm and seek non-violent solutions to the ongoing issues.

"The goal is to ensure the safety and security of everyone in the area and prevent further conflict," the minister added.
