The Omanhene of Dambai and the Nifahene of the Chonke Traditional Area in the Krachi East District of the Volta Region, Nana Kwaku Beyenor II has called on all the committees working in eight districts towards the creation of the Oti Region to ignore agitations and intensify their education on the upcoming referendum.

The advice follows a demonstration from a group calling itself Concerned Citizens of the Volta Region against government's intention to create the Oti Region.

Nana Kwaku Beyenor II admonished all the various committees working in the eight districts to disregard the agitations and concentrate on the work they are doing to educate their people on the need to vote 'Yes' during the referendum to create the Oti Region.

He also urged the committees to work diligently by intensifying their educational activities and the natives of the eight districts to support the work of the various committees in their districts financially

He commended the Krachiwura Nana Mprah Besemuna II for the good job he is doing towards the creation of the region.

The Oti Region is one of four proposed new regions by the Akufo-Addo government; the Western-North Region which will be created out of the Western Region; Ahafo Region to be taken out of the Brong Ahafo Region; Oti Region taken from the Volta Region; and the Eastern Corridor Region out of the Northern Region. To ensure that this mandate is effectively implemented, Dan Botwe was put in charge as Regional Minister of Regional Re-Organisation & Development.
