Create Fund to support widows – Queen mother

Nana Tambia the Fifth, Queen-mother of Ngleshie Amanfro, has made an urgent appeal to government to create a Fund through the District Assemblies, to support widows and orphans, to alleviate their suffering.

She said the Fund should be at least five percent, to be disbursed by the District Assemblies.

The queen-mother, therefore, suggested that the Fund could be released quarterly, to reduce the numerous problems facing the vulnerable in society.

Nana Tambia made the appeal when she presented 100 broilers, bags of rice and crates of minerals to 100 widows at Ngleshie Amanfro in the Greater-Accra Region.

This is the third consecutive year the queen-mother had put smiles on the faces of both the aged and women who have lost their husbands.

She regretted that majority of these women are jobless, and cannot make ends meet.

Nana Tambia said some of these widows are going through hell, as a result of maltreatment from relatives of their late husbands,

She pledged that next year, over 200 widows in the area would be catered for.

The queen-mother, therefore, appealed to the President to intervene to ensure that the Fund was created to improve the living conditions of widows.

Nana Tambia called for unity, understanding, peace and love, to promote economic development.

NII Armah OKai, Head of Family at Ngleshie Amanfro, praised the queen-mother for her generosity and kindness towards widows in the town.

He called on other queen-mothers to emulate the shining example of Nana Tambia, adding that when God blesses you, it is good to share with people who are needy in society.

Nii Okai appealed to the Greater-Accra Traditional Council to consider the elevation of Ngleshie Amanfro to a paramount status.

According to him, there are 48 villages under Ngleshie Amanfro, and expressed the hope that the Traditional Council will consider their request, and grant it sooner or later.

Madam Rebecca Duodu and Madam Neequaye Nayele, beneficiary widows, thanked Nana Tambia for her kindness to them, adding that since she started the gesture three years ago. they have forgotten that they lost their husbands many years ago.
