Coronavirus: Lovemore Foundation shares free masks in Battor, Aveyime, other towns

The Lovemore Foundation, a non-governmental organization has joined the fight against the spread of the novel coronavirus by distributing free face masks to residents of Battor, Aveyime and other neighbouring towns in the volta Region.

The Lovemore Foundation in its bid to help curb the spread of the deadly virus in the region donated thousand pieces of face masks to residents of Battor, Aveyime, Kanuwloe, Adidokpoe, Vome, and other towns on May 2, 2020.

Overwhelmed by the benevolence of the Lovemore Foundation, Torgbe Kudzo Vudugah, a resident of Kanuwloe expressed his profound gratitude to the foundation for the gesture he described as a timely intervention to help them protect themselves against the highly contagious and deadly disease.

“We are very happy that the Lovemore Foundation has thought of us in these trying times. We are deeply touched by their kindness and we encourage other NGOs to emulate the shining example of this organization to help deprived communities protect themselves from the novel coronavirus,” he added.

Rev. Fr. Mathias King, Parish Priest of Maria Gorretti Catholic Church in Battor also thanked the foundation for donating some masks to the church for distribution to its members.

The aid comes shortly after chiefs and authorities in the region launched the “No Mask, No Outing” campaign to ensure the malaise does not spread, as the numbers of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the region saw a spike last month.

The current case count of coronavirus in the region stands at 30, while the nationwide cases as of the time of filing this report stands at 2,719.

The foundation intends to further distribute more masks in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Lovemore Foundation was founded by Pius Gabriel Agormey, an engineer and philanthropist seeks to inspire and support youths in deprived communities to tap into their dexterity to solve problems in society through the entrepreneurial hub.

The foundation in partnership with other donors seek to empower youths in deprived communities by making available the requisite resources to support them to be real changemakers while they create their own employment by exploring their own expertise to provide real solutions to the needs of society and all prospective clients.
