A 29-year-old resident of Dompim, a community near Tarkwa in the Tarkwa Nsueam municipality of the Western region was cruelly lashed by a police officer following her refusal to enter police cell.

The victim, Sarah Darko who narrated her ordeal to Takoradi-based Connect FM said she was arrested based on a complaint lodged by a lady she suspected to have been having an affairs with the victim’s husband.

According to her, she visited her mother in Takoradi and made unannounced return about two months ago to find the said lady and the husband in their matrimonial home.

A fight ensued between the two ladies, and Sarah admitted slapping the husband’s girlfriend and she was also hit in the head with a mobile phone by the other lady.

The matter was however settled amicably by some elders of the community only for her to be arrested on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 by the police in Dompim following a formal complaint lodged by the rival.

The victim upon her arrival at the police was asked to enter the cell which she refused.

Her refusal to enter the cells, infuriated an officer whose name she gave as Insp. Emmanuel Osei who allegedly lashed the victim, causing bruises all over her body especially the buttocks.

Sarah further alleged that the police officer granted her bail to the tune of GHC350, but insisted that she compensated her rival with an amount of GHC600. She reported the matter to the police in Nsueam after she was sent to the hospital by the husband.

However, she claimed the police officer is now begging her to drop the case. He promised to foot her medical bills and also promised to compensate her, Sarah claimed. Connect FM was however unable to reach Insp. Osei to give his side of the story.
