Contract on up-grading of Senya Health Post awarded

Senya Beraku(C/R), Aug. 28, GNA - Government has awarded the expansion and up-grading of Senya Beraku Health Post on contract at an estimated cost of GH=A2150,000 (1.5 billion cedis).

Mr Haruna Esseku, former National Chairman of New Patriot Party (NPP) announced this when addressing a durbar of chiefs and people of Senya Beraku to mark their annual Akumase festival at Senya Beraku. He said it was in fulfilment of a promise made by President John Agyekum Kufuor at a durbar of chiefs and people of Senya Beraku in 2005. Mr Esseku said the contractor had begun mobilization to the site and appealed to the people to cooperate with him to ensure early completion of the project.

On sanitation and health, he appealed to the people to ensure environmental cleanliness and cooperate with personnel of the assembly's health inspectorate to enforce bye laws on health in the area. Mr Solomon Kwashie Abam Quaye, Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Chief Executive said feasibility studies on the fishing landing project for the town had been completed and work would begin soon to ensure safe landing for fishermen.

He urged the people to take advantage of the capitation grant and school-feeding programme to send their children to school and not engaged in child labour.

Major John Addy(rtd), Chairman of Senya Urban Council, urged the people to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme to access affordable and quality health care delivery. He appealed to government for assistance to complete work on the construction of a hostel for Senya Secondary School.
