Community pleads for safe drinking water

The chief and people of Nafaring in the Tolon District have appealed for clean and safe drinking water to protect them from water borne diseases.
Naa Wahabu Suhiyini, the chief, expressed anxiety that the lack of access to potable water could lead to a resurgence of the guinea worm disease in the area.

He therefore called for the government and other organizations to intervene to provide the community with a borehole.

He was speaking at a sensitization workshop on the ‘budget and projects’ held at Nafaring.

The programme was organized by SEND Ghana to assist apprise the people of the annual budget and how the community was going to benefit from the oil revenue.

Naa Suhiyini complained about the irregular rainfall pattern and said that was affecting their faming activities.

Programme Manager of SEND Ghana, Mr. John Nkaw, took the people through the five years of commercial oil production in the country.

He also spoke about the Sustainable Development Goals and said the focus was to end poverty, achieve food security, to improve nutrition, sustainable agriculture and healthy life, especially in the rural areas.

Mr. Nkaw rallied the people to work together to bring development and to also honour their tax obligations to the district assembly.
