Community embarks on development projects

Amasaman (G/A), Jan. 5, GNA - The chiefs and people of Acheaman near Amasaman have launched a three-year development plan involving an amount of over 500 million cedis. Launching it at a durbar to usher in the new year, Nii Kwartey Adjan, chief of Acheaman said projects envisaged under the programme include the construction of a JSS school, a day-care centre, sinking of boreholes and extension of electricity from Amasaman to the town.

Nii Kwartey Adjan said the projects would be supported through communal labour and contributions of 200,000 cedis a man and 100,000 cedis a woman each, while non-resident citizens would pay 500,000 cedis each for three years. Nii Kwartey Adjan and his elders, who had contributed more than 10 millions cedis towards projects called on the people to put an end to litigations and political differences and rather unite to initiate developmental projects to attract support from investors.

Mr Klutse Denume, former assemblyman for the area, who chaired the function commended Naa Aku Shika, Asafoanye of the town for donating electric poles for the electricity project. Nii Daniel Armatey Aryee, Oshipi of the town praised the people for their communal support and appealed to the Ga District Assembly and non-governmental organisation to come to the aid of people of Acheaman.
