Community cries for Cemetery

Menamenaso (Ash), Aug. 5, GNA - The chiefs and people of Menamenaso, a farming community near Odubi in the Asante Akim South District have appealed to the District Chief Executive (DCE), Abdul Karim Boakye-Yiadom, to assist the community to get a cemetery. The Community currently carry dead bodies to bury at Odubi, a nearby community about five miles away. This is due to the fact that the Chief of Odubi, Nana Ofosu Ababio, whom the community owes allegiance to, has banned them from creating another cemetery on his land aside that of Odubi.

Nana Tetteh Doku, Chief of Menamenaso made the appeal when the DCE called on him during a tour of the district on Wednesday. He said a parcel of land had been earmarked for the purpose of a cemetery and all that the community required was for the DCE to intervene to enable them bury their dead in the community. Nana Doku said the situation was disturbing and urged the DCE to as matter of urgency intervene to relief them of their plight. Mr Boakye -Yiadom, assured the people that he would consult Nana Ababio to see how best the issue could be resolved.
