Committee set up to resolve problems Bolgatanga market

Bolgatanga, Aug. 3, GNA - The Upper East Regional Coordinating Council (UERCC) is to set up a committee to resolve problems connected with the allocation of stores at the Bolgatanga new market. Mr. Boniface Agambila, Upper East Regional Minister announced this at a meeting with traders in Bolgatanga on Thursday.

He assured the traders that the Committee would come up with measures to address the problems and urged them to remain calm. Mr Agambila appealed to them to refrain from erecting unauthorised structures in the market but endeavour to erect structures that were approved by the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly.

He said the stores would be allocated to only traders who deal in textiles, provisions and cosmetics.

The traders complained that a monthly rent of 500,000 cedis for a store was high and appealed to the assembly for a review. The assembly that was in charge of the new market had problems with the traders over the allocation of the stores and sheds, the traders alleging the allocation was not fairly done.
