Commend increase in number of churches - Cleric

Kumasi, Feb 1, GNA - A pastor has advised Ghanaians to be pleased with the large number of churches operating in the country instead of condemning it.

Bishop J.N.K. Boateng, founder of the Gospel Revival Church (GRC), said churches have helped to instil discipline, good morals and honesty in a good number of people.

Bishop Boateng was addressing the closing session of a two-day crusade organized by the church at Sofoline in Kumasi on Tuesday. He said without the churches, social vices would have accelerated beyond control and corruption would have overwhelmed the country.

"Pray harder for the establishment of more churches so that a greater percentage of people can be reached with the gospel in order to transform their lives".

While commending the role of churches in the moral and social transformation of the country, he also acknowledged that some churches still had a lot to do in terms of moulding the character of people. Bishop Boateng appealed to pastors to lead lives worthy of emulation.
