Cocoa purchasing clerks urged to do the right thing

Goaso (B/A), Nov. 4, GNA - Mr Anthony Bernard Ansah, Bibiani Zonal Manager of DIO-JEAN, a private Cocoa Purchasing Company, has advised purchasing clerks to buy good quality cocoa beans to help the company maintain its high standards.

Addressing purchasing clerks from 26 Cocoa Buying Societies at Goaso in the Asunafo District of the Brong Ahafo Region, he urged them to assist farmers to overcome basic problems relating to their cocoa farms and the processing of the beans.

The zonal manager advised them to use only the Akuafo cheque to pay the farmers, warning that the company would not tolerate those who would use other means to do so.

Mr Ansah appealed to the Ghana Cocoa Board to impress upon the banks to ensure prompt payment of the cheques to enable the farmers to continue to operate with the cocoa buying companies. Mr Emmanuel Yemoah, Goaso District Manager of the company, urged the purchasing clerks to refrain from corrupt practices aimed at cheating the farmers.

He charged them to help the farmers with all vital information on benefits they could derive, including scholarships for their children. The clerks appealed through their management to the Cocobod to streamline the Akuafo Cheque system to eliminate inherent problems associated with it to make it more efficient.
