Clean-up exercise in Apam

Apam (C/R), Sept. 27, GNA – Mr Deldi Buame, the Gomoa West Operation Officer of Zoomlion Company, has appealed to landlords and landladies in the Apam area to provide toilet facilities at their homes.

He said this would stop the indiscriminate defecation at the beach and outskirts of the town.

Mr Buame gave the advice after a clean-up exercise at the town in preparation for this year’s Akomase Festival of the chiefs and people of Apam.

Nana Adu Effrim X, chief of the town and his elders led the four-hour clean-up exercise which included cleaning gutters, sweeping the streets and weeding overgrown areas of the town.

The festival which started on September 24 and will end on October 1, is on the theme “the future of the girl child education”.

It is celebrated by the people to highlight the development of the community and pray for bumper harvest in the years to come.

Mr Buame called for the arrest and prosecution of people who defecate indiscriminately in the town to serve as deterrent to others.

Mrs Emelia Indome, Gomoa West District Coordinator of the Non-formal Education Division of the Ministry of Education, called for women who dried out “Keta school boys” along the main road leading to Apam to be re-located.
