Classrooms converted into dormitories at Juaso Senior High School

Juaso (Ash), April 15, GNA - Authorities of the Juaso Senior High School in the Asante Akim South District have appealed to the government to help provide the school with dormitories and teachers' accommodation. Mr Joseph Adasi, the Headmaster, said accommodation problem facing the school had led to conversion of some classrooms into student dormitories, creating congestion in the classrooms. At a brief ceremony to swear-in the new executive of the Students Representative Council, the Headmaster decried the situation where only two teachers lived on the compound.

"The lack of housing for the teaching staff had become a major disincentive," he said.

Mr Adasi said a four-bedroom teachers' bungalow for the school that had been under construction since 1999 had now been abandoned by the contractors. He said all efforts at getting the contractors back on site had proved futile.

Mr Adasi said the school's inadequate facilities and infrastructure was a source of worry and called on the government and other stakeholders to act quickly to make things better.
