Church of Pentecost youth support Saltpond Hospital

Saltpond (C/R), July 16, GNA - The Cape Coast area Youth Ministry of the Church of Pentecost has donated 500, 000 cedis and food items worth about two million cedis to the Saltpond Government Hospital. The Ministry also organised a clean-up exercise at the hospital as part of activities marking the Church's social services awareness week celebration.

The Reverend Daniel Sackey, Leader of the Ministry, said he hoped their ''widows mite would be a source of relief to those, who would benefit from the items.''

Dr Frederick Vormawor, the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, received the items that included rice, sugar, milk, cooking oil and fruits.

He appealed to the churches to support the fight to curb the HIV/AIDS pandemic. "The disease is spreading at a fast rate and the Hospital records new cases every week."

He appealed to organisations including churches and well-to-do citizens to adopt some wards at hospitals and help to improve their conditions as a means of contributing to efficient healthcare delivery in the country.
