Church establishes technical institute

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A) Oct 17, GNA- Glorious Bible Church Mission has established a technical institute at Dormaa Ahenkro to train the youth in vocational skills.

Pastor Oduro-Yeboah, General Overseer, said at the inauguration of the institute, known as the Glorious Bible Church Mission Technical School, that the church was determined to help solve the unemployment. He noted that the government alone could not shoulder the responsibility of training the youth in employable skills and churches and other organizations need to supplement the efforts of the government.

The General Overseer emphasized the importance of education as a tool for national development and appealed to parents and guardians to encourage their children to pursue technical education.

It is the objective of the church to inculcate in the students good moral values to enable them to become God-fearing and be disciplined. Mr. Kumi Benson, a tutor, said the institute had so far enrolled more than 20 students for the first year and expressed the hope that more students would do so.

He said subjects offered at the institute include block laying and concreting, electrical installation, English and Mathematics. Mr. Benson added that temporal structures had been provided as classrooms and there were plans to provide other facilities including hostel and administration block.

Pastor Amo Ofori-Atta, Pastor in-charge of the Nsawam branch of the church, advised the new students to study hard to come out successful and gave assurance that the church was ready and prepared to provide the needed facilities to enhance teaching and learning.
