Church donates furniture to hospital

Winneba, Oct. 19, GNA - The Winneba branch of the Apostolic Church of Ghana at the weekend donated four executive chairs and assorted food items worth five million cedis to the Winneba Government Hospital.

According to Reverend Samuel Awidi, Pastor in-charge of the Winneba district of the Church, the donation forms part of a week-long activities marking the 60th anniversary of the Church.

Earlier, Rev Awidi, together with Mr. Freddy Agbeshie and Charles Yeboah both elders of the Church, jointly led the congregation to performed a four- hour clean up exercise at the hospital.

In a short addresss, Rev. Awidi urged Christians to cultivate a strong voluntary spirit to help them make positive contribution to the development of their communities.

He said as Christians it is their divine responsibility to show love and compassion to people in difficulties, adding that the donation would not be a nine-day wonder, but would be made periodically to assist the government improves the lot of the sick.

Mrs. Bernadette Bufaa, a Principal Nursing Officer In-Charge of the hospital, who received the items thanked the donors for the concern they have shown to the sick and called for more of such support. 19 Oct 03
