Christians told to pray for priests

Tema, Nov. 01 GNA - The Most Reverend Dominic Kodwo Andoh, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra on Saturday called on Christians to always pray that the qualities of Christ Jesus be found in priests to enable them to be steadfast in their priesthood.

He noted that on many occasions priests fell to temptations but God raised them up so they need constant prayers to them track.

Archbishop Andoh was delivering the sermon to mark the ordination of eight priests from the various parishes in the Accra Catholic Diocese at the Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic in an open-air at Tema.

Archbishop Andoh said as people who preach the word of God, the newly ordained priests should let the spirit of Christ reflect in their behaviour and utterances so that they would not lead others astray. He confirmed the order of priesthood on the priests, who resolved to exercise the "Ministry of the Word" worthily and wisely and to preach the Gospel to explain the Catholic faith to people.

The newly ordained priests are Rev. Thomas Kwabena Betuyre and Rev. Samuel K. P. Filton-Mensah of the St Joseph the Worker Tema, Rev. Albert Kojo Gyapanin and Rev Richard Ayivi Aziati of St Francis Xavier Kotobaabi, Rev. David Arko Amissah and Rev Joseph Henry Mensah from St Paul's Kpehe, Rev. Ernest Dugah from St Slyvannus at Pokuase and Rev. Delasi Atsu Parku of Corpus Christi at Sakomono Estates.
