Chiefs urged not to allow differences to degenerate into conflict

Akropong-Akuapem, December 6, GNA - The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, has appealed to traditional leaders not to allow differences of opinion among them to degenerate into dispute, hatred and strife.

He said they should search for peace, unity and healthy dialogue that could lead to development, progress and prosperity.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo was speaking at Kronti Odwira celebrations at Akropong under the theme, "community development and youth empowerment". He said the development and empowerment of the youth could not be realized if there was confusion between stakeholders whose duty it was to help in the development of the youth.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said traditional and political office holders should recognise that power was meant for service and not vengeance or suppression of those who disagreed with them.

He appealed to traditional and political office holders to use their positions to lead the fight against corruption, poverty, injustice and other social vices that hindered.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said it was important for the youth to identify their talents and work towards the realization of those talents through determination, commitment, discipline and honesty.

The Nigeria High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr Muhammed Musiliu Obanikoro, commended the Krontihene of Akuapem, Osahene Offei Kwasi Agyeman, for bringing out peace, stability and unity to the Akuapem Traditional Area. 06 Dec 10.
