Chiefs, people of Asebu Traditional Area declare support for DCE

Asebu (C/R), Nov. 9, GNA - The chiefs and people of Asebu Traditional Area, have declared their unflinching support for Madam Aba Edusah, Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District Chief Executive.

This is in reaction to a demonstration held by the people of the Abura Traditional Area, also in the district, calling for the DCE's removal from office because she built a proposed market complex at Asebu, instead of Abura Dunkwa.

At a press conference on Tuesday, the spokesman for the Aseda area, Paapa Abaka, said Asebu had since the First Republic been denied her fair share of development projects in the District.

Paapa Abaka said since the inception of the decentralization policy, which brought Abura, Asebu and Kwamankese together to constitute the District in 1987, the Asebu Traditional Area had not benefited from any major infrastructural development, which came to the District. "All developmental projects virtually went to Abura Traditional Area, but Asebu Traditional Area, never complained," he added.

He listed a number of projects being currently undertaken by the Assembly in the Abura Traditional Area, including the construction of a three-unit classroom block, a clinic and a three-unit classroom block.

"Abura has two community centres and three market centres, while Asebu has none. And also eight schools in the Abura areas are benefiting from the Schools Feeding Programme but Asebu has none," he stated.

Paapa Abaka warned that "the people of Asebu will not allow the DCE to be removed because she has decided to do the right thing by ensuring that development projects are fairly distributed."
