Chiefs call for ban on funerals at Sandema after April

Sandema (U/E), Dec. 27, GNA - Chiefs in the Builsa Traditional Area have expressed displeasure about holding funerals during the farming season and have appealed to the District Assemblies to enact by-laws to ban them. Nansuing-Nab Felix Azantilow, the Regent of Sandema, said the area had experienced poor farm yields because farmers spent a lot of time and resources on funerals when it was time to cultivate their fields.

"We the chiefs of Builsa in the interest of farmers are telling Buil= sa people that after the month of April no more funerals should be performed,= " he told journalists. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the chiefs to the farmers and particularly to those who made the district proud in winning top awards on three occasions at the National Farmerss Day Awards and said they should continue to work harder.

"We urge all Builsa to emulate the three proud citizens of Builsa so t= hat they can also be recognized in future," Nansuing-Nab Felix Azantilow. He advised the youth of the area to eschew bad behavior and avoid the excessive consumption of alcohol. He thanked government for considering the district in the provision of improved health facilities.
