Chiefs asked to seek welfare of people

Kokofu (Ash), Feb 17, GNA - Barima Offe Akwasi Okogyeasuo, Omanhene of Kokofu Traditional Area, has called on chiefs to work hard to ensure the welfare of the people instead of seeking their personal comfort. He said the chieftaincy institution could remain relevant if chiefs demonstrated transparent leadership and initiated development projects. Barima Okogyeasuo gave the advice when the newly installed Adwatoafoahene of the traditional area, Nana Yeboah Asuamah swore the oath of allegiance to him at Kokofu. The new chief, aged 56, is known in private as Mr Edward Cleverland Agyapong and works at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi. Nana Asuamah pledged to promote peace and harmony and called on the people to support him rule.
