Chief wants Winneba-Sankor-Gyahadze road rehabilitated

Effutu Gyahadze (C/R), Jan 22, GNA- Osabarima Neenyi Neity III, the chief of Effutu Gyahadze near Winneba in the Central Region, has appealed to government to rehabilitate the Winneba-Sankor-Gyahadze road to facilitate socio-economic activities.

He expressed worry that due to the bad nature of the road, drivers plying the road charged exorbitant fares.

Osabarima Neity said these when addressing a durbar of chiefs and people of Gyahadze to round off the annual Aboakyer festival. The chief, who is also the Gyasehene of the Effutu Traditional Area, on behalf of the people commended President John Agyekum Kufuor and the Government for elevating the area to a Municipality. He asked the people to bury their differences and pool their resources towards for the development of the district. Osabarima Neity said education formed the foundation for development and urged parents to invest in the education of their children instead of spending lavishly on funerals and other ceremonies. He advised the youth to be law abiding, respectful and desist from sexual promiscuity to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS. Mr. Crosby Asmah, an opinion leader of the area, called on the people to cooperate with the traditional authorities towards the development of the area.

He also urged the people to pay their taxes promptly and regularly to enable the Assembly to generate more revenue for development. Mr. Asmah appealed to persons who had attained 18 years and above to register as voters when the voters' register opens in March this year to enable them to exercise their franchise.
