Chief wants Kasoa boundary problem resolved

Nii Kwashie Gborlor IV, Chief of Ngleshie Amanfrom, has appealed to the Government to urgently rectify the administrative and regional boundaries between Greater Accra and Central Regions.

Ngleshie Amanfrom is in the Ga South District of the Greater Accra Region.

Flanked by his elders he said the issue has become thorny for the people of Kasoa and Odupon Ofankor as well as the two regions.

“Government should determine the boundaries between the two regions, and bring back the administrative ones to Greater Accra, without delay,” Nii Gbortor told newsmen.

The newsmen were seeking the reaction of the traditional ruler on the demolition exercise allegedly carried out by the Kasoa police and the Municipal Chief Executive for Senya Breku District Assembly last Sunday.

Collaborating the chief’s position, Nii Kwaku Botchway, Djasetse for Amanfrom and Nana Kwame Ofori, Stool Secretary indicated they have had to fight this issue for the past 45 years without a possible end.

“Our grandfathers fought it, our fathers did, and now it is our turn,” Nii Botchway said.

He said in 1984 a ruling was given in favour of the people of Odupon Ofankor against Amanfrom on some lands in contention.

However, in 1994 a court of Appeal set aside the ruling thereby reverting land claimed by Odupon Ofankor to the people of Amanfrom.

According to him each time there is a new government, they approach the sector ministers with documents, but they usually turn a deaf ear to these issues, which they maintained had become a source of conflict between the two neighbouring communities.

“We are tired! This is a peaceful country. We don’t want to rise, Government should determine these boundary issues, so that there can be peace!”.
