Chief cautions school cadets against indulging in criminal activities

Agona Swedru, March 5, GNA - The Adontenhene of Agona Asafo, Nana Kwao Ponsi II, has warned school cadet corps not to abuse their status to indulge in drug abuse and other criminal acts.

Nana Ponsi said this at the inauguration of 88 army cadet corps for New Era Senior High School and Swedru National Vocational Training Centre (NAVTCO at Agona Swedru at the weekend.

He urged the cadets to be disciplined and hard working to qualify them for enlistment into the Army, Navy and other security agencies after the successful completion of their education.

Nana Ponsi who is also an educationist advised the cadet corps to study hard and get good results to be recruited into the armed forces and other state security agencies.

Mr Emmanuel Korley, member of the Board of governors of New Era Senior High School said the purpose of forming the cadet corps was to train the students in military ethics and instill a high sense of discipline in them.

The Board Member urged the cadets to desist from laziness and social vices such armed robbery and theft which could ruin their future.

Mr Korley said Military Officers from Teshie and Achiase military Training Center had been invited to train cadet corps in all disciplines.

Mr Joseph Fosu Animpong, Assistant headmaster of NAVTCO appealed to the government and other organizations to assist the school with means of transport. since the only bus given to the school in the 1990s had presently broken down.
