Chief awards scholarships to three pupils

Asamankese (E/R), July 23, GNA - The newly installed Twafohene of Anum-Asamankese, Nana Anyane Kwatia III, has awarded scholarships to three children of the town. Nana Anyane Kwatia, who announced this during his out-dooring at Asamankese on Tuesday, said the package would enable the beneficiaries to pursue their education up to the University depending on their academic performance. The recipients all pupils of the Anum-Asamankese Local Authority Primary school are Rose Brakatu, Elizabeth Obenewaa and Eric Danso.

The Twafohene, known in private life as Mr Kwabena Anyane Yeboa, is a chartered accountant and Managing Director of Yeboa and Lawrence, an accounting firm in New York, the USA. Nana Anyane Kwatia promised to work with the Anum-Asamankese association in the USA to pool resources towards the development of the town. He said he would assist in the establishment of a library and a clinic and provide boreholes to solve the acute water problem in Anum-Asamankese.

Nana Kwatia said he would also link Anum-Asamankese with a city in the USA for the exchange of visits and programmes towards the improvement of the living conditions of the people. He announced that over 50 Americans tourists would be present at the final funeral rites of his predecessor, Nana Anyane Kwatia II, that would takes place on Saturday, July 26. The chief of Anum-Asamankesehene, Barima Essa Kwasi Mensah praised the new chief for initiating a pragmatic development plan for the town. He appealed to all Anum-Asamankese citizens abroad to contribute to the development of the town.
