Chief appeals to authorities to invest in education

Amasu (B/A), Sept. 06, GNA – Barima Dei-Kusi Gyabaa II, Chief of Amasu in the Brong-Ahafo Region, has appealed to chiefs and persons in authority to invest in education to help reduce poverty.

Nana Dei-Kusi said this at the weekend when he led a team of media personnel to inspect a three-classroom block under construction for Adehyeman Senior Secondary School (SHS) at Amasu, near Dormaa Ahenkro.

He said when he was installed as chief two years ago education became his primary concern and invested GHC8,000.00 to rebuild the SHS which had collapsed.

The school now has 200 students and will enroll additional students in September this year, the chief added.

Barima Dei-Kusi disclosed that in addition to reviving the school, he had donated 100 bags of cement, one tonne of iron rods and 20 trips of sand to renovate the local Islamic Primary School.

He commended the people and the local artisans for their communal spirit and gave the assurance that he would lead them to undertake more development projects.

The chief appealed to the government to tar the 29-kilometre Kyeremasu-Gambia Number Two road that link Brong-Ahafo and Western regions.

Nana Dei-Kusi, known in private life as Dei-Kusi Ankomah, was installed in August 3, 2009 after the death of Nana Amponsa Appiah
