Census of Agric project introduced at Birim Central

Ghana Statistical Service has composed a six-member committee for Birim Central Municipal and Akim Oda District Census of Agriculture (CA) project, being undertaking throughout the country.

The project being organised in collaboration with Food and Agriculture Organisation, Ministry of Food and Agriculture and other partners would embark on statistical operation to ensure collection, processing, publishing and dissemination of information to assess the state of development at the rural areas.

It would also improve the regular production and availability of reliable agriculture as outlined in the Ghana Strategy for Development of Statistics document.

Dr Frederick Twum, Eastern Regional Director of Agriculture made this known to Ghana News Agency at the swearing in of the CA committee members at Akim Oda.

The ceremony was performed by Ms Sandra Asimenu, a representative of the Government Statistician, Dr Philomena Nyarko.

Ms Asimenu tasked the members to be responsible for co-ordination and implementation of the CA to ensure its success.
