Cashew farmers form union at Nkoranza

Nkoranza (B/A) Feb. 13 GNA - Cashew farmers in Nkoranza district of Brong Ahafo have formed a union to improve their activities. Mr. Samson Yaw Kudom, the chairman of the association called on members to unite so that they could obtain financial support from the government to enhance their activities.

Mr. Kudom advised them not to play politics with the union.

He announced that the executives would send a delegation to the government for a stable price for their produce as middlemen usually dictated the price.

Mr. Kudom said there were more than 2000 cashew farmers in the district and appealed to the government to establish a purchasing company to serve as ready market.

Mr. Osei Mansuo, District Co-operative Officer, advised the farmers to form societies in their localities to support the district union. He urged members to pay their registration fees and purchase shares to build a strong financial base for the union.
