Cashew farmer calls for marketing company

Nkoranza(B/A), May 30, GNA - Nana Osei Kwadwo, a leading cashew farmer at Nkoranza in the Brong-Ahafo region, has appealed to the Government to establish a marketing company to deal solely in cashew nuts to ensure stable price for the crop.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza, Nana Kwadwo noted that many farmers within Nkoranza District were engaged in the cultivation of the crop, which thrived well in the area. However, he regretted that because individuals and private companies were involved in marketing the crop, there was no stable price for their produce.

Nana Kwadwo noted that the marketing company would encourage the farmers to form co-operatives to enable them secure credit and other facilities from financial institutions to expand their farms and increase production for an improved standard of living. He appealed to other cashew farmers to form associations in the districts to share ideas and submit proposals to the appropriate authorities for attention.

Nana Kwadwo urged the farmers to cultivate the habit of saving and transact business with the financial institutions to enable them contract loans to enhance their farming activities.
