Cape Coast MP interacts with BECE candidates

The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast, Mr Ebo Barton Oduro, has visited some Junior High Schools (JHS) to interact with the final year students and offer them support in their impending examination.

The visit was also to see how the weekend classes he initiated for the various schools in the Cape Coast Metropolis for final year JHS students was progressing.

The move was to ensure that students produce good grades to enable them get the schools of their choices and also to improve upon the general performance of students in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

He was accompanied by the head of Science Education Unit from Accra, Mrs Georgina Quayson, the Metropolitan Educational Director Mr George Obeng Yankson and some members of the press.

Some of the schools visited were Bakatsir Methodist Basic and JHS, OLA Girls and Presby cluster, Apewosika JHS, Ankaful JHS and Kakumdo JHS.

During the interactions the MP encouraged them to be serious, disciplined, obedient to their teachers as well as their parents and aspire to be great people in future.

Mrs Quayson for her part appealed to parents not to over burden children with household chores for them to get enough time to study and sleep as the exams draw near.

At Kakumdo JHS the headmaster of the school complained about the attitude of some of the students who escape during class hours to game centers to play video games and watch movies

He said the harassment of teachers by some parents was still rife in the area as such recalcitrant students when punished by the teachers incur the wrath of their parents.**
