Canadian Couple to provide school facility

Nkoranza (B/A) Feb. 6 GNA- A Canadian couple based at Nkoranza in Brong Ahafo is to construct a three classroom block with an office and store for Sarpomaa kindergarten in the town.

Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Taylor of Christian in Action Ministry of Canada disclosed at a meeting with the staff and students of the school on Tuesday.

The couple said the gesture was in appreciation for the allocation of a piece of land to them by the Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area, Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom 1V for the establishment of a village at Ayerede, near Nkoranza.

The Omanhene conferred the titles Apagyahene and Apagyahemaa of Nkoranza on the couple under the stool names Nana Kwasi Kudom and Obaahemaa Afia Sarpomaa.

Mr and Mrs Taylor said it was their vision to establish a Church at Nkoranza to promote morals in the youth.

Okatakyie Agyeman expressed gratitude to the couple for the gesture and called on teachers to collaborate with them. The Omanhene appealed to the Canadians to arrange for a partnership with a school in their home country for children of Sarpomaa School to share ideas and activities.

Mr. Jarvis R. Agyeman-Badu, District Director of Education, said the facility was timely in view of the deplorable state of the current school block.
