Calm returns to St Louis after snake scare leaves 2 students injured

Order has returned to the St Louis College of Education after a snake scare that caused a stampede on Thursday night in the school.

Students of the all-female tertiary institution went amuck when a student raised an alarm of seeing a snake during an all-night prayer session on campus.

The stampede resulted in the injury of two students who were rushed to the hospital to be treated for sprained limbs.

As at Ultimate News’ visit to the school, one of the students was in clutches with a swollen leg being escorted by her colleagues to a dormitory.

The principal for the school, Dame Comfort Boakye Mensah contended that the scare was just a false alarm as the school has not witnessed the presence of a snake on its campus before.

She told reporter Ivan Heathcote – Fumador, “ever since I came to this school, I have not heard of a snake before. I attended primary school here as far back as the 1960s so we don’t know where it came from.

“They were at night prayers and someone shouted and maybe the prayers touched somebody so much so that the person shouted snake and they started running away. Two students got injured but they have been treated and are back in school,” she added.

Meanwhile, students of the school have been advised to desist from raising false alarms that can result in a panic with its attendant possibility for such accidents.

The St Louis College of Education this year, admitted some four hundred and fifty-two (452) students for its 2019-2020 academic year.

The school has also commenced a number of projects funded by government and the school’s internally generated funds to accommodate the huge numbers expected to graduate as first batch of government flagship Free Senior High School intervention.
