The newly installed first ever Chancellor of Christian Service University, Most Rev Prof Emmanuel Asante has unveiled an audacious, transformative vision that promises to propel the institution into a new era of prominence and impact.
Speaking in a sideline interview with this reporter, Chancellor Emmanuel Asante declared that despite its half-century legacy, Christian Service University stands at a pivotal crossroads, thus a young giant poised for explosive growth. He outlined a blueprint for radical program expansion, explicitly calling for a surge into critical health sciences.
"We need to come up with other health courses, like lab technicians. He stated with conviction, emphasizing the urgent need to produce skilled professionals to assist Ghana's healthcare sector. This expansion, he revealed, would build upon CSU's already strong foundations in religion, theology, nursing, business, communication, computer science, and mathematics.
"Beyond undergraduate excellence, a seismic shift towards robust graduate studies is paramount. We have not fully moved into the graduate areas, and we must be expanding in all fields," he stressed, signaling a commitment to higher learning and specialized research.
In a strategic move set to redefine CSU's landscape, Prof. Asante unveiled plans for the dynamic development of the University’s expansive, undeveloped land at Sabin Akrofrom. This vital move, he explained, would pave the way for a dedicated campus to house burgeoning health sciences and other new departments. "This place initially started as just a theological training institute. Now we are big, and we have land over there. We need to develop that land," he asserted.
Clarifying his unique mandate, Chancellor Prof Emmanuel Asante positioned himself as the University’s dynamic public face, a tireless ambassador tasked with marketing Christian Service University to the world. His mission is to forge powerful alliances with academics, industry leaders, and faith communities to secure crucial partnerships and resources.
He vowed to champion competitive, student-friendly programs, including flexible 'sandwich' options, ensuring accessibility without compromising academic rigor. Furthermore, he stressed the absolute necessity of robust collaboration with both public and private institutions.
"The ultimate goal is to carve an unmistakable niche, ensuring that when Christian Service University is mentioned, it signifies a standard of excellence and unique offerings that simply cannot be found elsewhere, a truly differentiated and indispensable institution". This, he concluded, is the heavy responsibility and inspiring challenge he embraces as Chancellor.
