The Chief Justice has ordered the temporary closure of the District Court in Kwame Danso following an attack on court staff on Wednesday, December 10, which left court staff traumatized.
In a circular dated December 12, 2025, signed by the Deputy Judicial Secretary in charge of the Northern Sector, Justice Frederick Tetteh, the temporary closure is effective until further notice.
“Following the occurrences at Kwame Danso District Court, I have been directed by His Lordship the Chief Justice to request you to close the court temporarily from today, 12th December, 2025, until further notice,” the circular to the Regional Administrative Officer, Bono East Region, stated.
On Thursday, December 11, the Judicial Service Association of Ghana (JUSAG) issued a statement condemning the attack on court staff in no uncertain terms.
The statement signed by the National President of JUSAG, Samuel Afotey Otu, JUSAG advised staff of the Court to stay away from work until their safety can be guaranteed.
JUSAG also appealed to the Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, to close down the court until adequate measures are put in place to ensure the safety of staff and court users.
Mr. Otu called on the Inspector General of Police to take immediate action to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice.
The call of JUSAG has been acknowledged, with the circular urging that the regional administrative manager “treat this directive as urgent.”
