CEPS impounds unregistered motorbikes

Tamale, July 20, GNA - The Customs Exercise and Preventive Service (CEPS) on Wednesday embarked on an exercise to impound all unregistered motorbikes in the Tamale metropolis.

The exercise became necessary in view of the increasing number of unlicensed motorbikes that ply the metropolis. Many motorists who were found with fake numbers and unregistered motorbikes had their bikes ceased by the special task force who were deployed to carry out the exercise.

Mr. Stephen Awako an Officer with the service in an interview with the GNA during the patrol said the action is an on-going exercise and would be sustained until the metropolis is rid of unregistered motorbikes.

He said a lot of revenue is lost as a result of failure on the part of owners to have their motorbikes registered hence CEPS would clamp down on such offenders to ensure sanity on the roads.
