CCMA registers 1,092 youths for employment

Cape Coast, Dec. 7, GNA - The Cape Coast Municipal Assembly (CCMA) has so far registered a total of 1,092 youths under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP).

Of the number 188 have been registered for vocational training, 393 for agriculture business, 123 for ICT, 233 for auxiliary health assistance, 110 for waste management and sanitation, 18 for community protection system and 27 graduates for paid internship training.

Mr Awankuah Kweku Filson, the Municipal Youth Employment Co-coordinator, said this in an interview with the GNA on Thursday. He said the number of graduates registered for the paid internship training was low because hitherto their registration had been done at the national level but was decentralized last week. Mr Filson said an amount of 220 million cedis has been released to support 50 youths who are already into the cultivation of vegetables and sweet potatoes and vegetables, five in poultry farming and they will in addition be supported with a maximum of 200 birds each. 7 Dec 06
