Businesswoman re-elected as chairperson of Tafo Town Council

Kumasi, Aug 17, GNA- Nana Afua Konadu, a 47-year-old businesswoman was on Thursday re-elected as the Chairperson of the Tafo Town Council in Kumasi for the fourth consecutive time.

She polled 10 votes to beat Mr Musah Ibrahim Muna, Assemblyman of Old Tafo Adompuom Electoral Area who had nine votes. Mr. Emmanuel Aidoo, Administrator of the Manhyia Sub-Metropolitan Assembly in an address after the elections, commended the members of the council for the peaceful manner in which the elections was conducted. He said the position of the Chairperson is very important in the day-to- day administration and decision making process of the council. The Administrator appealed to the members of the Council to work in unity and deliberate on issues that would help it initiate more development programmes to enhance the living conditions of the people. Mr. Moses Donkor, Chairman of the Old Tafo Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urged the members to rally behind the Chairperson to ensure the development of the area.

Nana Konadu thanked the council for the confidence reposed in her and pledged to serve them at all times.

She stressed the need for co-operation and support of the members to enable her to steer the affairs of the council successfully. Mr. Baba Jamal Eepps, Secretary of the Tafo Town Council said a Development Service and Finance and Administration Committees of the council would soon be constituted to enable it to be more vibrant in their performance. 17 Aug 07
