Twabidi (Ash), Aug 21, GNA- The Ahafo-Ano North District of Ashanti has from 2000 to date, recorded 157 Buruli Ulcer cases, Mrs Elizabeth Danso, the acting District Director of Health Services, has said.

She said those affected are mostly children from six to 12 years. Mrs Danso said the District Health Management Team (DHMT) has stepped up its outreach education programme on buruli ulcer in the district to sensitise the people to report cases to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Mr Akwasi Adu-Poku, the Ahafo-Ano North District Chief Executive, expressed grave concern about the increase of the disease in the district.

He said the District Assembly has committed 15 million cedis to the programme.
