Buoyam Tourist sites ready for CAN 2008 Visitors

CLASSI FM Techiman B/A; Barely two weeks to the Ghana’s 2008 African Cup of Nation soccer fiesta, the chiefs and people of Buoyam in the Techiman Municipality in the Brong Ahafo region have expressed their preparedness to give maximum welcome and protection to those who would be visiting the tourist attractive sites in the area.

Nana Agyei Ameyaw, Senior Tour Guard said visitors to the country during the tournament must be made to return home with fond memories of the event and the hospitality of Ghanaians.

Speaking to CLASSIC NEWS, Nana Ameyaw said in a bid to provide excellent hospitality to the foreigners and visitors, frontline staff such as receptionists, secretaries and hoteliers and drivers have been trained.

Nana Agyei Ameyaw urged the frontline staff to treat guests with respect and project a positive image of Ghana during and after the tournament.

The senior Tour Guard mentioned some of the tourist attraction site in the area as the Canopy Rocks, Umbrella Rocks, Pinnacle Rock Water Cave, Bat Cave1 and 2 and Water Falls.

He therefore appealed to the Techiman Municipal Assembly to rehabilitate the road networks in the area to facilitate easy movement to the sites

On his part, the Paramount Chief for the area Nana Okofo Dwamena Akenten IV noted that, with the improvement in the Ghanaian economy, there is the need to upgrade the tourism industry to attract more tourists to the country through up-to-date technology in the tourism industry.

He has therefore expressed his happiness towards the positive trend shown in tourism participation by Ghanaians adding that more could be done to expose the cultural values of the country to the outside world. The paramount chief also warned the drivers to avoid charging exorbitant fares to deter people from visiting the sites.
