Brong Ahafo Regional tree planting exercise launched

Nsoatre(BA), July 20, GNA - Mr Kwame Twumasi-Awuah, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive on Friday launched Brong-Ahafo Regional tree planting exercise at Nsoatre as part of Ghana's 50th independence anniversary celebration.

Mr Twumasi-Awuah and Mrs Eugenia Dume, Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Landscape Designer of Department of Parks and Gardens led about 200 pupils to plant 265 different species of tree seedlings at Nsoatre Children's Park.

He said the trees were to serve as windbreaks and greening the area therefore, he appealed to urban and traditional councils to protect the seedlings against destruction by stray animals. Mr Twumasi-Awuah announced that the assembly would rehabilitate the children's park and provide it with recreational and modern entertainment facilities.

He pledged the assembly's commitment to ensure proper sanitation among the people with the evacuation of refuse dumps in the municipality.

Baffour Gyamfi Awuah, Ankobeahene of Nsoatre commended the assembly for its foresight and gave the assurance that the traditional council would nurture the trees.
