Bridge at Dompoase-Aprobo collapses, affects travellers

Kumasi, Sept. 29, GNA- Residents of Dompoase-Aprobo near Atonsu in the Kumasi Metropolis, have been cut-off from other communities as a bridge linking the town to the Kumasi-Kuntanase road has collapsed.

The situation is causing a lot of problems to the residents who find it difficult to cross the river whenever it rains. Dr. George Asare Ampong, Executive Secretary of the Defence for Children's International, a Kumasi-based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) and residents of the area made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Friday. He said another bridge in the town was also at the verge of collapsing and appealed to the Department of Urban Roads to rehabilitate the bridges in the area to facilitate the movement of people from the area to other parts of the Metropolis. Dr. Oppong commended the efforts of some philanthropists for

assisting in putting up a temporary wooden bridge to salvage the

situation.
